Fern testing is normally performed on a pregnant woman to determine if there was a rupture of membranes (leaking amniotic fluid). The crystallization/drying of the fluid in a fern leaf or snowflake pattern, is a positive result. On the other hand, if you’re about to ovulate or you’re ovulating, the Estrogen causes your saliva and cervical fluid to fern like this too. Pretty cool, eh?"
